Why we do this
Since 2018, the Values Institute has helped tens of thousands of people across more than 100 countries identify what matters most to them. One pattern shows up in every dataset, every region, every age group: people know their values far better than they live them.
Closing that gap is coaching work. It takes someone trained to ask the right questions and hold people to their answers. There are not enough of those people.
So when the Institute turned eight in 2026, we funded eight full scholarships, one for every year. Then people kept writing to say they had just missed it. So we left the door open.
What a scholarship covers
The complete Values Coach Certification:
- 8 modules and 35 lessons, self-paced
- 6 practical assignments that build your coaching toolkit
- The Values Coaching Questions resource
- Certification on completion
Scholarships may cover the full fee or part of it, depending on your circumstances.
Who it’s for
People who will put it to work. Coaches and facilitators. HR and people leaders. Educators, counselors, and managers who coach their teams. You might be building a practice or leading inside an organization. Either way, we want to hear what you’d do with the certification in your first 90 days.
You don’t need existing coaching credentials. You do need a plan.
What we ask of scholars
- Complete the certification within eight weeks of starting
- Write a short reflection on your experience, which we may publish

How to request one
- Take the free Values Assessment if you haven’t already. The form asks for your top three values. Take the assessment
- Answer four short questions. Specific beats long.
- Submit. Requests are reviewed as they arrive, and every applicant hears back.

Is there a deadline?
No. The 2026 birthday round had one, and it has passed. Scholarship requests are now reviewed as they arrive, all year.
Do I need coaching experience?
No. Some scholars are experienced coaches adding a values lens. Others are leaders who coach as part of their role. What matters is your plan for using it.
Is it a full scholarship?
The 2026 birthday scholarships covered the full fee. Requests reviewed case by case may be full or partial, depending on your circumstances. Tell us honestly what you can and can't do.
What if the answer is no?
You'll hear back either way, and we'll have something for you. The free assessment and tools stay free.
